Where Does Becca's Clothing Come From on Bachelorette 2018
'The Bachelorette' stylist spills the secrets on Becca's sparkly wardrobe

Becca Kufrin's "Bachelorette" journey might've begun with heartbreak, but the parade of glittering gowns the Minnesotan publicist has modeled onscreen over the past few months are proof that looking good is the best revenge.
According to the franchise's longtime stylist Cary Fetman, however, the reality show's "sparkliest season yet" didn't start out that way.
"Everybody thinks I have such a strong say in what [the season lead] wears, but they all come in with some idea of how they want to look," Fetman told Page Six.
He explained that during their initial meetings, Kufrin, 28, specifically requested sequin-free looks because she "didn't want to be that girl." But once she saw a few sparkly gowns amongst the racks, "everything flew out the window" as "she fell in love with the fantasy of it all."
Fetman admitted that Kufrin scrapping her self-imposed style rule actually made his job harder. "I get panicky, looking up photos to make sure each look isn't something I've already done," he said. "And especially this season, I found myself having to compare [Becca's season] to others."
The solution? A focus on strong silhouettes over feminine ruffles, plus a hefty helping of Kufrin's favorite color. "She loves red," Fetman said. "It got to the point where we had to beg her to choose different colors, just to mix it up!"
"Once ABC had come up with their idea for what Becca's promos would look like, they told me they wanted something gold and liquid-y, and they sent me photos of this metal mesh dress that was maybe $180. But then I saw the Tom Ford, so I said to them, 'I don't know how you feel about spending this much, but let me send some photos of her in it and you can tell me what you think.'
[After seeing them,] they were like, 'Forget what we said, that is the dress!' And that was that. It really wasn't any brilliance on my part - it was all Tom Ford."

"Nobody does a gown like Randi Rahm. You pay for what you get! [Editor's note: Kufrin's premiere dress reportedly cost $22,000.]
This gown was absurdly heavy: As the evening grew later, the dress grew too, because it just kept pulling down on her. After shooting her in it for a half hour, I had to put felt [inside the neckline so] it wouldn't be weighing so heavily on her neck. I owed Becca a major neck message after wearing that all night!"

"We don't shoot on a soundstage, so everything's dependent on the weather - and this season, we dealt with weather more than we've ever had to. It was always so much colder and rainier than we'd planned for. It was freezing! We used so many coats and jackets this season.
But I have to give Becca credit: She understood that cold is cold, and it'll make for a very long night. Whereas Rachel told me at the beginning of her season, 'I don't care if I'm turning blue - you will never put a coat over one of my gowns!'"

"This was probably the cheapest dress we used all season, but it was one of her favorites. It was supposed to show up later in the season, but one night - we were only on episode 2 or 3 - Becca looked at me and was like, 'I know you don't love that blue dress, but it's my favorite and I want to wear it tonight.'
And the truth is, once I cut that slit up to her thigh and took the plunge down, I will admit, a dress I thought was just OK looked spectacular. I got why she loved it. One of my favorite things is to take an inexpensive piece and make it look expensive."

"This look was for the Richard Marx date. When we're getting ready to shop [for the season], the producers will give me an idea of what the dates are going to be. For this one, they said, 'Think rocker, but modern rocker.'
Problem was, it got lost in translation. The only person who got the memo about a 'rocker outfit' was me - the fans clearly didn't get the memo. And Richard Marx isn't exactly a rocker!
I've never gotten so criticized for an outfit. But when I apologized to Becca, she was like, 'I don't care what anyone says. I felt hot.' And at the end of the day, honestly, I'm doing this for her, not anyone else."

"The one thing Becca didn't like was anything that had ruffles or frills. She likes very clean, simple lines; the shape is what's most important.
Sequins were the exception, of course. She'd told me she didn't want them, so I stayed away from sequins and beaded things as much as I could at first. But then that whole rule went out the window!"

"This was another Randi Rahm. That bottom part was so stiff and built-out that it needed its own suitcase!
When you're already carrying 12 suitcases and have to add a 13th just for one dress, you know you'd better both love that dress. It lived in my bedroom, actually, because there was no room in Becca's."

"This Mac Duggal dress surprised me the most -- thanks to a crazy idea, it turned out to be one of my favorites of the season.
Originally, it had this nude fabric lining that just looked really heavy. Becca put it on and said, 'I love the beading, but I'm not sure if I feel pretty in this.' But we both knew there was something there. So I took some scissors and cut out the lining, and when she put it back on I was like, 'Oh my god, this dress just became stunning.'
I do a lot of things to these dresses - lower the back, add a slit - that I get license to do from the designers. I don't know if anyone else would have the gumption to change a designer's look, but they know me and they know what my girls want."

"For some reason, it's as though we did one big commercial for Randi Rahm this season. That was all Becca, though! She loved the fit, and she loved the fantasy.
From the day she saw it, Becca wanted this gown. It was one of the first things we picked out [for the season]. What's so amazing about it is its lightness; when you lift it, it's only a pound or two. She was like, 'I feel like I'm wearing nothing!'
So when I found out where we were going for the finale [the Maldives] and knew how hot it was going to be, it was just perfect. And when you see it in person, in the sunlight, it's got this amazing iridescent seashell effect. She looked like a mermaid in it."
